Caring Behind Closed Doors
Help secure a New Deal for Carers by contacting your local MP now
New research from Carers UK reveals that carers are desperately worried about how they will continue to care safely through the coming winter, and that they are already exhausted and close to burn out. Without urgent action from the government, many carers simply do not think they will be able to cope in the coming months.
Our ask of you:
To help raise awareness of the challenges that carers are currently facing, we ask that you to write to your local MP, to share your own personal experience of caring during the COVID-19 pandemic with them.
We also want you to ask your MP to write to both the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, to raise with them the challenges that unpaid carers are currently facing, and to ask the government to give back to carers, who have done so much during this crisis, now.
Looking to the future, we are calling on the government to implement a New Deal for Carers, with medium term tangible action to support carers and those they care for. Longer term, carers also need to be placed at the heart of a reformed and sustainable social care system that provides more support to both those providing and receiving care.
